Answer

This page shows you three ways to find VHS videos, CDs, DVDs, films, records and other audiovisual materials in the Library Catalog. Students may check CDs out for 7 days; other audiovisual materials may be used in the library only. Faculty may check CDs out for 7 days and check other items out for two days.

1. Limit your search in the Library Catalog to 'Audiovisual Collection only.'

On the catalog's first screen, click 'Select A Specific Collection to Search,' and click 'Audiovisual Collection only.' Then search the catalog.

To undo the limit when you are finished searching the audiovisual collection, click 'New Search.'

2. Search the Library Catalog on your topic, then limit search to material type or location.

Search the catalog. Click the Limit/Sort button near the top of the results page. Limit 'Material Type' to 'Audio Media' for audio CDs, audio cassettes and records, or to 'Projected Media' for videos, DVDs, and films. Limit 'WHERE item is located' to 'A>Audiovisual'. Click 'Limit/sort items retrieved using above data.'

3. Search the Library Catalog by Keyword using an audiovisual term.

Examples:
wizard of oz and vhs
shakespeare and dvd
hoffman dustin and laserdisc
japan and videorecording
(all video formats except 16 mm film)
mozart and soundrecording (CD's, cassettes and vinyl LP's)
