The CSUF Pollak Library’s OneSearch catalog provides ebooks from many publishers: ProQuest, EBSCO, O’Reilly, and more. One of them—O’Reilly (formerly called “Safari”)—often confuses users on how to access their ebooks. So here is clarification on how you do it:
1. In OneSearch, when you click on the title of your O’Reilly book, you will get a message from O’Reilly stating you “get instant access through your library” and a pulldown list of universities. But CSUF is not listed! Therefore, click the “Institution not listed?” link.
2. For the first time doing this (first time accessing an O’Reilly ebook), enter your email to register it. (If you’ve already registered your email previously, just click the “Already a user?” link to proceed).
3. You will then see a welcome screen, and then click to proceed to the ebook.
4. You are now in the ebook! For accessing other/future O’Reilly ebooks, O’Reilly may remember your device and give you immediate access…if not, then you can just click “Already a user?” to enter.
